Raymarine instruments communicate over SeaTalk1 — a proprietary single-wire bus that carries wind, speed, depth, heading, and navigation data. The Tackr Hub decodes every SeaTalk datagram natively, with no adapters or software converters required.

Connect the SeaTalk yellow wire

A single wire from your SeaTalk bus into the Tackr Hub's ST terminal. The Hub's opto-isolated input protects against ground loops and handles the negative-logic SeaTalk signal automatically. No voltage converters or level shifters needed.

The Hub decodes and rebroadcasts

The Hub runs a proprietary SeaTalk decoder — tested against 87 real datagrams — and converts wind, speed, depth, heading, and navigation data into a unified Signal K delta stream broadcast over its own WiFi hotspot (SSID: Tackr-Hub, 192.168.4.1).

SeaTalk gateway — common questions.

Will Tackr Hub work with my Raymarine ST60, ST70, or i60 instruments?
Yes. The Tackr Hub's SeaTalk1 input is compatible with all Raymarine instruments that use the SeaTalk1 bus — including the ST60, ST60+, ST70, i60, i70, and older Autohelm series. Raymarine switched to SeaTalk2 (a proprietary variant of NMEA 0183) on some newer products, and to SeaTalkNG (which is NMEA 2000 compatible) on current iSeries — both are also supported via the NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 ports.
Does the Tackr Hub convert SeaTalk to Signal K?
Yes. The Tackr Hub broadcasts all decoded SeaTalk data (and NMEA 0183/2000 data) as a Signal K delta stream over WebSocket at ws://192.168.4.1:3000. Any Signal K-compatible app — including Savvy Navvy, OpenCPN, and others — can connect and receive live data. The Tackr racing app uses this stream natively.
Can I use both SeaTalk and NMEA 2000 at the same time?
Yes. The Tackr Hub reads all three protocols simultaneously — SeaTalk1, NMEA 0183 (on up to 4 inputs), and NMEA 2000 — and merges the data into a single coherent stream. If the same data key arrives on multiple buses (e.g. wind speed from both SeaTalk and NMEA 2000), the Hub applies a priority order: NMEA 2000 first, then NMEA 0183, then SeaTalk.
What SeaTalk data does the Hub decode?
The Tackr Hub decodes: Apparent Wind Speed (AWS), Apparent Wind Angle (AWA), True Wind Speed (TWS), True Wind Angle (TWA), Boat Speed Through Water (STW), Depth Below Keel, Magnetic Heading, True Heading, Rudder Angle, Water Temperature, and Set/Drift (tidal current). More datagrams are added continuously.
Does it require the Signal K server software to be installed?
No. The Tackr Hub runs its own proprietary daemon (not the open-source Signal K server) and is pre-configured from the factory. It boots, connects to your instruments, and starts broadcasting in around 30 seconds. No SSH, no Node.js, no configuration files.
